donating $1 million to assist residents of the tornado-ravaged Tennessee counties where the singer has spent much of her life.

The donation was confirmed to USA Today by Hal Cato, CEO of the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee. Swift’s contribution was made to the foundation’s Tennessee Emergency Response Fund.

Last Saturday, severe storms and multiple tornadoes tore through communities in Clarksville and around Nashville, among other nearby areas. At least six have been confirmed dead, more than 60 injured, and hundreds of homes severely damaged or flattened outright.
