The Chiefs are heading to the Super Bowl for the fourth time in the past five years, but it will be the first time that Rashee Rice gets to play on the NFL’s biggest stage.
Rice is playing in his first NFL season after Kansas City selected him in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft. He has quickly established himself as the team’s top receiver and figures to have a big role in the NFL’s championship game.
Rice’s strong performance, especially during the team’s postseason run, has quickly established him as a fan favorite on the Chiefs’ offense.
Many of Rice’s biggest fans live right on his street. Case in point? His neighborhood showed up in full force to wish him well as he prepared to head from Kansas City to Las Vegas for the big game.
At least a dozen children and their parents stood on the sidewalks as Rice drove by. They could be heard performing a “Go Chiefs!” chant, and Rice waved to them as his car passed them.
Many of the children on hand to catch a glimpse of Rice carried with them signs of support. One sign read, “Let’s go Rashee!” while another said, “Go Rashee! We love the Chiefs.”
Almost all in attendance were in Chiefs gear, with many wearing Patrick Mahomes jerseys.
Rice has to feel good about the support he is receiving as he competes for his first-ever Super Bowl ring. The 23-year-old receiver figures to play a major role in Kansas City’s game plan after logging 20 catches for 223 yards and a touchdown across his first three postseason games.
Even if he doesn’t have a big game, he can expect a warm welcome upon his return to Kansas City.
