KERR COUNTY, Texas (KMID/KPEJ)- An Odessa police officer is among several Odessans missing and feared dead amid catastrophic flooding in Kerr County.
Heavy rain overnight Thursday and into Friday produced more than a foot of rainfall in just a few hours in the Hill Country and flash floods swept away cabins, RV, and poured into homes. As of Friday night, more than 20 people were confirmed dead and dozens more, including about 20 children, were missing with families left scrambling for answers. Among those, a family from Odessa.
OPD officer Bailey Martin, his girlfriend Jayda Floyd, his father, Bobby Martin, and stepmother, Amanda Martin visited a campground in Kerrville to celebrate the Fourth of July weekend. Their RV was swept away and loved ones confirmed, but no official announcement has been made locally, that both Bobby and Amanda were killed in the floods. As of 11:30 pm, Bailey and Floyd remained missing.
